Apple Pie
Apple Pie Recipes – The Traditional Pie!
Apple Pie Recipes go right back to the 14th century although they were very different to todays pastries. A cookbook containing the apple pie originated as far back as 1390 A.D.
Apple Pie Recipes Ingredients: 2 ½ cups plain flour, pinch of salt, 250g butter, 2 egg yolks, 1/3 cup sifted icing sugar, 2 tsp grated lemon rind, 1 tbsp lemon juice.
Apple Pie Recipes Method: Use a bowl to sift flour and salt. Make a well in the middle of flour and add butter slices, egg yolks, icing sugar, lemon rind and lemon juice. Work the well to a paste and work the flour in gradually. Roll pastry into a ball, refrigerate and cover for 30 minutes.
Apple Pie Recipes Filling Ingredients: 5 medium cooking apples, ½ cup apricot jam, 6 cloves, (sugar & milk for glazing).
Apple Pie Recipes Method: Wash, peel and core apples. Slice apples into quarters and slice finely. Sprinkle with cloves. Place 2/3 of the pastry onto a lightly floured board and roll out enough pastry dough to line the base and sides of a lightly greased 28cm x 18 cm pastry tin. Spoon apples into pastry tin and spread jam over apples. Roll out the remainder of pastry to cover the top of the pie. Pinch the top edges around the rim to seal pastry and brush the top with a little milk. Lightly sprinkle sugar over the top. Make sure to slit pie with a knife in 3 or 4 times so that steam can be released. Bake in hot oven for 15 minutes. Reduce heat to moderate temperature and cook a further 25-30 minutes.

Apricot Pie
Creamy, Luscious Pie Recipes - The Apricot Pie Recipe
Delicious Apricot Pie Recipes come with an assortment of ingredients and this particular Apricot Pie Recipe is luscious, creamy and with a touch of lemon.
Apricot Pie Recipes Ingredients: 250g cream cheese, 1/2 cup condensed milk, 2 tbsp lemon juice, 1/2 whipped cream, 23cm crumb crust base or pie shell, 1 cup apricot jam, 1 tbsp sugar, 2 tbsp water, 1 tsp gelatine, mint.
Apricot Pie Recipes Method: Beat cream cheese, condensed milk and lemon juice together until all ingredients are combined. Fold in cream and then pour into crumb crust base or pie shell. Refrigerate. Place gelatine into 1 tbsp of water until softened – set aside. Use a blender and mix warm apricot jam until smooth, then add 1 tbsp water and sugar until sugar has dissolved. Place apricot mixture into a saucepan and bring to the boil for 2 minutes – do not stir. Remove from heat and stir in gelatine mixture until dissolved. Allow to cool. Spread apricot mixture over cream cheese filling and refrigerate for 1 hour. Decorate with mint leaves.

Chicken Pie
Tasty Chicken Pie Recipes With White Sauce Recipe
Chicken Pies are a classical gourmet pie found in most delicatessens and pie shops but the homemade chicken pie recipes are by far more hearty and delicious!
Chicken Pie Recipes Ingredients: 4 skinned chicken breasts, 1/2 cups chicken stock, 1 tsp salt, 1 sliced onion, 1 diced turnip, 1 stalk celery – sliced, 1 tbsp butter, 2 tbsp flour, 1/2 cup milk, 3 tbsp cream, chopped Italian parsley, 1 quantity of frozen Flaky or Rough Puff Pastry.
Chicken Pie Recipes Method: Defrost frozen pastry. Cut chicken into cubes. Boil stock and salt. Add chicken pieces & vegetable ingredients. Simmer until tender – set aside. Melt butter in saucepan and remove from heat. Add flour, stir until white sauce mixture is smooth. Cook slowly for 1 minute & add milk, cream and italian parsley. Return to heat until boiling, reduce and stir for 1 minute. Cool slightly and combine chicken, vegetables & white sauce mixture. Roll out the remainder of the pastry to top the pie. Trim and Pinch the top edges around the rim to seal pastry and brush the top with a little milk. Make 4 slits in the top of pastry. Bake at 200C for 10 minutes and then reduce to 180C for 30-35 minutes.

Pumpkin Pie
The American Pumpkin Pie Recipes
The origin of the pumpkin pie recipes comes from American settlers from Europe and today they are still very popular around the world.
Pumpkin Pie Recipes Ingredients: Frozen Rough Puff Pastry, 1 1/2 cups boiled pumpkin, 3/4 cup brown sugar, 1/4 tsp salt, juice & rind from 1 lemon, 1/2 tsp ginger, 8 cloves, 1 cup milk, 2 beated eggs, 1 tsp cinnamon, fresh mint.
Pumpkin Pie Recipes Method: Preheat oven to 200C. Defrost pastry sheet and line lightly greased pie plate. Boil pumpkin until tender – set aside. Mash pumpkin and add all other ingredients – combine together. Place pumpkin mixture into pie shell. Bake in oven for 15 minutes, reduce heat and cook an extra 45 minutes. When cooking period has ceased, leave the pumpkin pie in the oven and open the door until it has cooled – this will firm the centre of the pie. Serve with whipped cream and fresh mint.

Chocolate Pudding
Pie Recipes & Puddings - Grandma’s Chocolate Pudding Recipe
Grandma’s Chocolate Pudding is a delight for dessert and compliments these tasty homemade pie recipes.
Chocolate Pudding Ingredients: 60g butter, ½ cup milk, 1 tsp vanilla, 1 cup self raising flour, ¾ cup castor sugar, 1 tbsp cocoa, 2 cups hot water.
Chocolate Pudding Topping: ¾ cup brown sugar, 1 tbsp cocoa.
Chocolate Pudding Method: Stir butter & milk in a heated saucepan until butter melts, then add vanilla. Sift flour, castor sugar and cocoa into a bowl. Make a well and add butter mixture. Stir until smooth. Lightly grease a 1 litre ovenproof dish and pour in mixture. Sift brown sugar and cocoa over the top. Gently pour hot water over the top and bake in a moderate oven for 40-50 minutes.

Bread & Butter Pudding
Pie Recipes & Puddings - The Bread & Butter Pudding Recipe!!
Bread & Butter Pudding Ingredients: 3 eggs, 2 tbsp sugar, 2 cups milk, 3 drops vanilla essence, nutmeg, ½ tsp butter, 4 slices of white buttered bread, 1 tbsp sultanas.
Bread & Butter Pudding Method: Beat eggs and sugar. Warm the milk, add sugar, vanilla essence and eggs. Cut buttered bread into squares. Pour custard into casserole dish, place into custard and press down slightly so that custard mixture coats the bread. Sprinkle with sultanas and nutmeg. Stand baking in water bath and cook in moderate oven until set and bread is a golden and slightly crispy.
